TEXT:

1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void. Darkness covered the watery depths and the Spirit of God moved upon the surface of the waters.

3 Then God said, “Let there be light.” And there was light. 4 And God saw that the light was good. And God divided the light from the darkness. 5 And God called the light day and the darkness He called night.
Then dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day one.

6 Then God said, “Let there be an expansion in the midst of the waters and let it divide the waters from the waters.”

7 So God made the expansion and divided the waters which were under the expansion from the waters which were above the expansion, and it was so. 8 And God called the expansion sky.
Then dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day two.

9Then God said, “Let the waters under the sky be gathered together unto one place and let the dry land appear.” And it was so. 10 God called the dry land earth and the gathering together of the waters He called seas. And God saw that it was good.

11 Then God said, “Let the earth produce vegetation of seed bearing plants and fruit trees that bear fruit with seed in it according to its kind.” 12 And it was so: The earth produced vegetation of seed bearing plants according to their kind and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.
13 And dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day three.

14 Then God said, “Let there be lights in the expanse of heaven to divide day from night. They will serve as signs for the festivals and for keeping track of days and years. 15 They will be lights in the sky to give light on the earth.” And it was so.

16 So God made two great lights: The greater to rule the day and the lesser to rule the night. He made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light upon the earth, 18 to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 And dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day four.

20 And God said, “Let the waters bring forth the moving creature that has life
and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open expanse of heaven.”

21 And God created great whales and every living creature that lives, which the waters brought forth abundantly after their kind as well as every winged fowl after their kind. And God saw that it was good.

22 And God blessed them saying, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let fowl multiply in the earth.”
23 And dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day five.

24 And God said, “Let the earth bring forth the living creatures after their kind; cattle and creeping things and beasts of the earth after their kind.” And it was so.

25 And God made the beast of the earth after his kind and cattle after their kind and every thing that creeps upon the earth after their kind. And God saw that it was good.

26 And God said, “Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness, and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over the cattle and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.”

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him: Male and female created he them.

28 And God blessed them and God said unto them: “Be fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the fowl of the air and over every living thing that lives upon the earth.”

29-30 And God said, “Behold, I have given to you and to every beast of the earth, every fowl of the air and every thing that creeps upon the earth wherein there is life, every green herb for sustenance.” And it was so.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made and behold, it was very good.
And dusk came, followed by dawn, completing day six.

2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished and everything in them.

2:2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had made.

2:3 And God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He had rested from all His work which He created and made.
